Dinner for one

Dinner for one

Well. The first week in Salzburg is passed by and I’m still fighting to get used to the “new life”.

Since monday I planned to cook some pasta but didn’t get a chance until last night. Always found an excuse to get around: Getting invited by my dad for dinner out, not hungry, getting invited to a (new) friend’s place, eating fast food (in chronological order).

But last night there was no chance. Eat nothing or just cook that bloody thing. So I did it. Yatta!

It’s really hard to get motivated to cook only for myself. Even if it is something as easy and quick as pasta.

Btw. “Dinner for one” is also a british comedy sketch shown in 1963. Weirdly nobody in England has ever heard about this sketch. But Germans love it. It is broadcasted every single year in German TV on New Years Eve and it is a tradition to watch it. There are a few other European countries with the same thing but with different titles.

Watch it here – you can skip the first minutes of introduction if you are not able to master the German language.

Niko Bellic, the beloved immigrant to Liberty City from East Europe shows some very American behaviour:

To recover his life, Niko has to eat. There is plenty of choice in Liberty City to pick up a hamburger, hot dog and such as. But one thing Rockstar didn’t want Niko to eat is healthy home-made food. It’s not like Niko has no opportunity to eat home-made food. He’s got a fridge and there is even food on the counter, ready to eat. But even desperate L1-key hitting doesn’t help. He really doesn’t pick it up. To bad since you load/safe every game from his accommodation. Is this the American dream?
