I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much more useful than ever before.

The locale variables are apparently set by SSH as you connect into the instance, and they refer to locales that are not compiled on the machine. Try this instead:

sudo locale-gen de_DE.UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8

Thanks! Just wanted to add that this fails if you haven’t installed autoconf.

brew install autoconf

Found this tip at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9322742/php-autoconf-errors-on-mac-os-x-10-7-3-when-trying-to-install-pecl-extensions

@MatthiasSchmidt thanks for the tutorial.

I successfully completed all steps but still I can’t instantiate a new Memcache object (following the simple demo code on php.net http://www.php.net/manual/en/memcached.set.php).

This has got to be a path issue, right? Any thoughts?
